Welcome Back To The Wanger

Chein-Ming Wang made his spring debut today. The start marked the first time Wang has appeared in a game since the foot injury he sustained last June. I totally forgot that the game was on XM Radio so I missed hearing his 2 innings but his line was impressive. 2 innings, 2 hits, no runs, no walks, no Ks. Wang faced 8 batters and threw 23 pitches. I couldn't find a strike-to-ball ratio for his complete outing, but he threw 8 of 12 pitches for strike in the 1st inning. Wang pitches to contact and considering he walked none, I can't imagine his second inning was much different than his first. So it sounds like he had a pretty solid outing. His groundout to flyout ratio was 2 groundouts to 6 flyouts which is the opposite of a typical Wang outing. It makes me think he either wasn't throwing his sinker or it just wasn't working as well as it normally does, which is understandable at this point in the year. Either way, still a solid outing.

Glad to have you back CMW!

Peace, love and Pinstripes,

J-Boogie

A healthy Wang winning between 15-20 games would be one of the biggest "additions" any team could make this year.

Stay healthy, starting pitchers...this could be a very good year.

Wang will find a way to win 19 games this year, he's too good of a pitcher not to, if he gets the run support and starts 34 games ofcourse.

Wang got lost in all the CC/AJ buzz, but he's so important for us and has always been solid (except for the postseason in '07 - still haven't gotten over that!).
