Women And Children First

Even though the Yankees are only 4 games out of the wild card, I'm losing faith quite rapidly that they'll be able to make a run at the postseason, and even if they do by chance make it to October, they've got no chance against the Angels. The Yankees look terrible right now. They can't hit, can't pitch, and there manager is proving to be out of his league. Why would you have A-Rod try to steal 3rd with 1 out in a tie game? I understand you're hoping to score him on a fly ball, but that's a pretty big risk. A base hit likely scores him. Let Nady and Cano take their whacks. Flashback to yesterday, why have Jeter bunt with 2 on and no out? Go for the jugular!! Jeter is one of the best hitters in the game. I don't understand having him give himself up. It doesn't make sense to play for 1 run, especially in the 7th. And it's not like Abreu and A-Rod are slouches either. I was a big Girardi guy when he was hired over Mattingly. Now? Not so much.

There's still time and the lead Boston has over the Yanks for the WC is by no means insurmountable. But if they keep playing this way, it won't be long before they find themselves on the outside looking in. They need to play up to their potential. If you look at all that's gone on this year and consider their record and their place in the standings, it's obvious that this team has what it takes to win ballgames. They just need to put it all together. Time is running out. I hope they figure out a way.

I'd write more but I'm getting aggravated just thinking about them.
