How quickly things go wrong, eh? The 6th inning of tonight's Yankees game was painful to watch. We've all seen those kind of innings before. This one really stings because it happened to CC Sabathia. It was downright ugly. You know it's bad when he walks the 8 and 9 hitters. The Yankees were in the driver's seat up until that point and if you're like me, you kind of felt the game was in the bag. CC was cruising and based on his track record it looked like he'd go 7-8 innings and then we'd see Mo close it out. Guess it wasn't meant to be.
I'm not totally rocked by the loss. The Yankees still have a half-game lead, which is what they had when the series started. 4 games off the schedule and no ground gained or lost. I can live with it. But they were so close to having a 2.5 game lead. Ugh. That would have been nice.
So here we sit, 9 games left on the schedule and they're in a virtual tie for first and all but assured a playoff spot. The magic # to eliminate the Red Sox is 3 and they're up next for the Yankees. Six of the last nine games are versus the Red Sox. Two Yankee wins and they're playoff bound. I would love to see the Yankees knock these out right off the bat. Beckett v. Pettitte. Should be a good one.
Peace, love and Pinstripes,
J-Boogie
