Sox Out Of Teixeira Race???

I just got finished watching the Colts/Jags game (I took the Colts and the over!!) and I figured I'd check MLBtraderumors one more time before bed. This is what I see:

9:58pm: Red Sox owner John Henry said:

"We met with Mr. Teixeira and were very much impressed with him. After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor."

Woah.

This comes from an article on Boston.com. The article states that Sox owner John Henry e-mailed several media members, saying:

"We met with Mr. Teixeira and were very much impressed with him. After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor."

Again, woah.

Now I don't necessarily take this to mean the Sox are out of the running for Teixeira, but woah. As Tim Dierkes put it on his site: "From favorites to out of the bidding."

He posted this at 11pm EST. It's probably a safe bet that more than half of New England hasn't gotten this news yet. Talk about a rude awakening.

I can't wait to see how this plays out.

ps-I still think he'll somehow end up in Boston.

If he ends up in Baltimore, he is an even bigger jerkoff than Scott Boras.

At the kind of money they are throwing around, a million or two less to go to the Angels, Sox or Yankees isnt a big deal.

Jackpot- I'm not sure what your comment has to do with baseball. It looks more like an unsolicited product shill. Since it is, I'll be deleting it.

Anonymous- I agree. But that's what you get when you deal with Scott Boras. High bidder wins.

If the Yankees really want Teixeira, i think this is their shot.

If the Red Sox are out of it, that takes of some of the pressure for the Yankees having to rely on getting a big big bat like Manny Ramirez.

Maybe that Mike Cameron deal gets completed now... (hopefully not)

I see Teixeira going to the Angels. They'll pay him and give him a chance to win. The Nationals? Not so much.
